Protecting Your Grill with the Weber Genesis Cover

April 26th, 2010

If you have bought or are thinking about buying a Weber Genesis grill, keep in mind that this is an investment which is going to last you through the years. Many of Weber Genesis models of grills come with warranties up to 25 years. These are limited warranties which means that you are expected to take good care of your grill! One of the easiest ways to do this is to buy a Weber Genesis cover.

The Weber Genesis cover is much more expensive than some of those cheap covers you can find at Wal-Mart. Always keep in mind that you get what you pay for. When you buy a cheap grill cover, you are probably going to be buying another one after the first big storm which ruined it. It is better to pay for a quality product once than buy several cheaper products and to end up paying much more.

Weber Genesis covers are made from a vinyl material which is heavy duty and completely waterproof. The most important thing to note here is that the vinyl does not crack even in temperatures below freezing. This means that no water will penetrate the cover and onto your grill.

Another important aspect of the Weber Genesis cover is that they are designed to fit Weber Genesis models. Since these models tend to be larger and differently shaped than other grills, this is very important. You will need a grill cover which covers all of the grill including down to the legs and stays securely in place. Only a Weber Genesis cover is designed for this. The cover is 54” wide, 27” deep and 45” tall. This assures that even the tank and bottom of the grill are protected.

Another important aspect of a good fitting Weber Genesis cover is that it makes for easy covering. You can get the grill cover on in a matter of moments with no hassle in case of an unexpected shower. Also, the grill cover will never stick to the equipment and you will always be able to easily remove it, even after a long winter of it being covered. A Weber Genesis cover is designed to last for up to 10 years, depending on weather conditions. Considering this, the price tag of around $55 isn’t much to pay.

What to Look for in a Weber Genesis Gas Grill

April 25th, 2010

When you go to buy a Weber Genesis gas grill, the sales people are going to bombard you with tons of information about BTUs, side burners and all sorts of features that you didn’t even know existed. Their main goal is to sell you the most expensive grill and take a commission. Choosing to buy a Weber Genesis gas grill is a good decision, especially because this brand is the leader in the industry, but there are many types of Weber grills. You need to get the one that is right for your grilling needs. Here are some of the things you should be looking for.

Price: This is the factor that we always look at first when making a purchase. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for! A cheap grill usually means low quality materials and no dependability. Weber Genesis gas grills are all top quality so the difference is price has to do with features and size. Don’t forget that a Weber Genesis grill is meant to be with you for the next 25 years. It is worth spending a bit more to get the perfect grill for your cooking style.

Fuel: You can find Weber Genesis gas grills for propane or natural gas. For natural gas you must have a fuel line at the grilling location. However, it is cheaper on the long run and you won’t have to buy propane from the store. Regardless of which you choose, take a look at the amount of gas that each Weber Genesis grill uses and the features it has for saving gas.

Size: When deciding what size Weber Genesis grill to buy, think about how many people you will be cooking for and the space that it requires. Weber makes small grills which even the smallest apartment patios could fit but you won’t be roasting an entire turkey on it! If you have a large yard, then you can look at the larger models of Weber Genesis gas grills.

Features: Weber Genesis has many different features including smoker boxes, multi level cooking, side burners, lights, and many more. Each of these features costs money. However, some of these features are going to make your grill much easier to use and pay off in the end. Try to think realistically about what you will actually use.

Weber Genesis Grill vs Store Brand

April 23rd, 2010

Weber Genesis are one of the leading in grills in the industry. With some products, it is sometimes better to buy a cheaper store brand rather than go with a name brand. This is not the case with grills like Weber Genesis. If you want to buy a quality grill which will last you through the years, will have all the features you want and comes with a reliability, then you will have to choose a name brand. Also, you will be able to find replacement parts for a Weber Genesis grill but probably not for a no-name brand. That means you are basically throwing away a no-name brand grill the moment something breaks, which it probably will. Weber Genesis grills are built to last but you can also get any replacement parts easily in the future.

When it comes to making a grill, the quality of the metal is one of the most important aspects. Most grills are made from cast aluminum, sheet metal, stainless steel, or cast iron. Weber Genesis grills are made from stainless steel though some models have cast aluminum end caps. Stainless steel is definitely the material of choice when it comes to buying a grill but that doesn’t mean that any stainless steel will do. Manufacturers of cheap grills look for ways to cut costs anywhere. That usually means using a very low quality of stainless steel for their grills. Be vary of store brand grills that are all stainless steel. Many of these just have painted steel frames and these will rust. A good cast aluminum is better than a low quality stainless steel. With a Weber Genesis grill, you are getting what you pay for with the top quality material.

The main difference between a Weber Genesis grill and store brand grill is obviously the price. The time old rule of “you get what you pay for” applies here. When you buy a cheap grill, you are not going to get the 25 year warranty that Weber offers nor the quality and dependability that comes with the brand name. One of the biggest incentives to buy a Weber Genesis grill is that you have many more options for features. Keep in mind that this grill purchase should be an investment and you will want to have all the features that make is easy and fun to use. You will only be able to find such features with a brand grill like Weber Genesis.
